Theme - Deepen

As youth workers we so often face the demands of others, the stress of finding new resources, and the pressure to succeed. Our spiritual life gives meaning to everything we do yet it's not surprising some of us lose sight of it in the busyness of life.

Again and again we need to hear the Father's call to return to him once more and remember to whom we belong. The truth is, when we allow our relationship with God to take centre stage, young people begin to see the God we've wanted to show them all along, the one who offers them depth and meaning, and calls them to a life of passion and purpose.

Youthwork the conference 2008 is not only about training and equipping youth workers, it's a call to come back to the Father, to reinvest in the relationship from which all our youthwork flows. It's a challenge to build deeper roots and more meaningful lives. It's a chance to stop ‘doing' stuff and start to ‘deepen' our souls.

Main Sessions

Our Main Sessions are a chance to hear some of the key voices speaking into Christian youthwork today, together with vibrant worship and prayer. It's a unique opportunity to join with other youth workers and find the teaching and encouragement you need to make a difference back home.

Workshops

There will be a wide range of workshops over the weekend giving you the opportunity to delve deeper into some of the key areas of youth ministry today. Each session will be led by experienced youthwork practitioners. With a wide range of subjects being covered - schools work, church-based work, big issues, personal development, culture, mission and evangelism - and different styles of delivery - debate, discussion, lecture-style and practical sessions - there really is something for everyone.

Younger Leaders

A series of seminars created especially for those who are aged mid to late teens and involved in youth ministry. The content of these seminars will equip you to engage with the young people you are working with, help you to develop in your leadership role, whilst connecting to the theme of the conference.

Soul Sessions - NEW FOR 2008

At this year's conference we're taking some time on Saturday to deepen our understanding and experience through three different streams of teaching:

Deep roots - Soul

Chris Curtis, Ajith Fernando and Nancy Goudie will take you on a journey to unearth the heart and passion of our faith. How can we connect more deeply with Jesus in our day-to-day lives and develop the kind of healthy habits that will keep us close despite the hectic pressures of youthwork?

Deep connection - Society

Gerard Kelly and Russ Rook will strike up a dynamic conversation between the gospel and our culture to answer the difficult question - what would Jesus do? - easy to ask but not so easy to answer! We will delve deep into scripture and look closer at society to equip you to live and lead for Jesus.

Deep impact - Service

Steve Chalke and Jill Rowe will explore the concept: through giving ourselves to others that we find our own faith deepening. How can we develop a radical lifestyle that will take us on a journey closer to Jesus and make a difference in how we serve our society?
